Day 2 Shortest distance stage

Day 3 Econorun, treasure hunt and fabulous dinner

Day 4 Highest pass, speed run, banquet and podium

Day 2 Shortest stage….

This was to take us from Gstaadt to Varenna by a combination of arithmetics involving bonuses for going over 2000m high, taking ferries and trains, maluses for crossing borders and taking the freeways. The honour system meant that we had to provide proof of everything. After much thinking we decided to take the train and avoid freeways… this is proof.

Many passes were closed do we had to take the trains under the passes.

It was fun to be in the Swiss train! Losing control….

You must have noticed that it rained. The view at the top of the St Gotthard left something to be desired.

Text Box:

We needed proof that we took only so long on the autostrada. Here it is:

Notice the precise match of the times on the odometer and the signs entering and leaving the motorway.

Then we got lost in Lugano so no photos, and only calmed down after twenty frustrating kilometres following a brick truck and missing the ferry.

We finally relaxed when we met our companions of misfortune. We took a picture of them because they looked cool.

(This photograph would end up giving us a lot of grief by the organiser (--s?) )

We ended up having done the shortest distance, but earning 10 penalty points for being late.

Econorun

After the first fish dinner, we woke up to a beautiful view of the lake with fresh snow capping the mountains, but we had to rush, so no photos.

We went to fill the tanks, and the view was not so great but we had nothing to do, so photos:

Dinner

Finally after a gorgeous treasure hunt (rush so no photos) we found THE treasure, Il Giardino da Felicin.

And the dinner……

Patrick had made good friends with the cook, who gave us many good bottles for all our cash.

(hmmmmm bottles….bottles? Where are the bottles?)

Anyway….this was a very good cook!

We were all a little bit tipsy and, following the difficulties we had to match the tulips and castles with reality,

many of us could hardly talk to their pilot or copilot as the case may be.

Nothing could express better this down feeling than

                           TULIP BLUES……………………

Highest stage

             here we go, A G A I N !

This time we had to get HIGH! and high we went:

It was gray again, and pouring rain, so we got lost…

and arrived higher than anything we’d hoped for…

and climbed back from the other side….

                                                                                             We REALLY needed proof:

The views were stunning….and this trail very dangerous.

We quickly went down.

Speed run

Meg was brave enough to drive the farting

karts, so no photos of the speed run.

And here we go AGAIN for a….

 fish banquet!

Karting makes you thursty, so we drank….and drank…
